In this article, we'll cover the who, what, where of the private note series in Fellow. Use the links below to jump to a specific section of the article.
What are private note series?
Private note series are private notepads for you to plan your week, reflect on your learnings and brainstorm, and more. Anything that you add to the private note series will only be visible to you.
These notes have the same functionality as other notes in Fellow, meaning that you'll be able to add action items and talking points, apply templates, and format however you would like.
In Fellow, all other note series are represented by the book icon next to the title. To confirm if this is a private note series, you are able to view the avatars at the top of each note to see who has access to them. If you can only see your avatar, that means you're the only one with view and edit access to these notes.
When should I use a private note series?
Private note series are great for notes and/or tasks that are just for you. Since no one else will be able to see or collaborate on these notes, these note series are a great place to reflect, plan your day, and track long term goals.
Note: if you decide that other people should have access to that note, then you can share the note series by clicking on the Share button in the top right hand corner
How can I create a private note series?
Navigate to the Home Panel and scroll until you see the heading note series
Click on the + button next to the note series header
Add the name of the note series that you would like to create. Then press Create without adding others to share with.
Voila! You now have a private note series that you can access at any time.
Pro Tip: If this is a note series that you will access a lot, star the note series so that it appears at the top of the home panel
How can I customize my private note series?
There are many ways to customize your private note series - here are a few options:
Templates
Not all of your private note series need to have the same format. If you have private note series for journalling, goals, and your daily planner then apply templates that work best for each of those formats. You can try one of our pre-made templates or build one of your own. It's really up to you! Learn more about how to apply templates
As part of these templates, add headers to create section to fit your workflow. For instance in a daily planner, you can go ahead and add different headers for each category of tasks. This then makes it easier to sort your action items into the "buckets" that fit your workflow.
Emojis
Add some flair by adding emojis to the name of the note series or within the note itself.
Pro Tip: you can use your native OS emoji picker anywhere in Fellow. On a Mac, choose Edit > Emoji & Symbols, or use the keyboard shortcut: `Control + Command (โ) + Space`. On a Windows machine, you can use the shortcut `Win + .` to invoke the emoji picker.
Rearrange
Rearrange how your note series appear in the section. This is great if you want to alphabetize or group similar note series together. To do this, just drag and drop the series from one place in the order to another.
Voila!
