With the Namely integration in Fellow, you are able to import your high-level employee information and reporting structure, directly into your Fellow workspace.

The import will be run daily, so you don’t have to worry about updating user information, manager info, or manually adding and removing users from Fellow.

Prepare your Namely instance

Create a report

First, you need to create a report in Namely that contains all the users and all the fields you want to import into Fellow.

At minimum, you need to include the following fields:

  • GUID (You can also use an Employee ID field if your data is 100% clean, but we recommend GUID)

  • Full Name (you can also optionally send first + last name)

  • Email (make sure it is the work email)

  • Job Title

  • Department

  • Reports To Email (or, some other unique reference to the employees manager)

Note: You must ensure that the report is filtered to currently active employees who should have access to Fellow.

If you are a large company and only want to synchronize a subset of your users to Fellow, you can also add the appropriate filters when generating your report.

Once the report works in Namely, you’ll need to obtain its URL. This will look something like this:

https://mycompany.namely.com/reports/XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX

Create a Personal Access Token

Fellow will use Namely's API to pull this report. To do that, we require a Personal Access Token (PAT) from within Namely.

  1. Log into the namely user account you wish to use to for this integration. The best practice is to have a dedicated account with API access for integrations.

  2. Ensure the account is able to access the custom report you created in the last step.

  3. Click the Profile avatar in the top right corner, and select API from the dropdown menu.

  4. Select Personal Access Tokens.

  5. Enter Fellow.app for the token name, and click Create.

  6. Copy the value of the personal access token created. It will be a long string (64 characters long).

Note: If you don't see an option to access the API section from the profile dropdown inside namely, contact your Namely administrator, or your Namely Customer Success representative for assistance.

Send the information to Fellow

Once you have verified the information above, please open a support request with us with the URL for the report generated above, as well as the the Personal Access Token you generated for access to this report.

Our team will verify the URL and ensure that the report has all the right fields. Once verified, we will then set up a nightly automation to go and pull the data from the report, and synchronize the list of users in Fellow with the information from your Namely report.

If you have any questions about this process, contact us and we'll try to provide additional guidance.
